SASA’s Finance Division and Administration

The Finance and Administration division is an integral support division that ensures the responsible custodianship of budgets and resources made available by the industry to SASA. It provides expert and comprehensive support services required by the SASA divisions and subsidiaries such as centralised financial processing, payroll, procurement, financial reporting, taxation and treasury services. The division also provides services to the industry and its stakeholders such as industry financing, B-BBEE, tax incentives, VAT Flat Rate and the industry stock count. Furthermore, the division is responsible for Umthombo Agricultural Finance which contributes mainly to the sustainability of small-scale grower sectors through the provision of financial services. In addition, the division is responsible for the overall management of facilities at all major sites, the function is outsourced to Tsebo Facilities Solutions (TFS) with various service level agreements in place.

As a provider of specialist services, SASA’s performance and service levels are highly reliant upon the performance and service of SASA’s employees. The diversity of the skills SASA employs, range from high-level specialists to unionised industrial and agricultural labour, and the wide geographical spread of our operations, makes the effective management of people, their knowledge and their performance particularly important.

In support of this need, the Human Resources division provides a comprehensive range of services to managers and employees in SASA, all of which aim to resource the organisation with highly competent and effective people who are committed to serving the best interests of the South African sugar industry.

Information Systems

Responsible for, among others, the provision of Information Technology systems, services and support to SASA; management and facilitation of the effective operation of the Growers’ Register, Direct Analysis of Cane system, Cane Payment Interface, Umthombo Agricultural Finance, Supplementary Payment Fund, Area Under Cane and Transformation Intervention Management System, which together are referred to as the Industry Systems.
